Blount's Patent Oiler Handle Hand Saw -- Rare and Unusual planes The handleMarketed by the Hummer Tool Company of Philadelphia, it is a nice example of Blount's Patent Oiler Handle as patented by William T. Blount of Orrville, Ohio on October 21, 1924. A trigger on the handle depresses a plunger inside of the handle which applies oil to the blade of the saw, presumably to reduce friction and heat during cutting.
