古渡更紗は、18世紀ごろコロマンデル地方（現在のアンドラプラデシュ州やタミルナド州）からジャワなどを経由して日本に渡ってきた布。その中でも、胡麻手といわれた細やかな手描きの文様を、アジュラック染のスフィヤン・カトリー（Sufiyan Ismail Khatri)と共に、真鍮の版で復刻したシリーズです。
