Its aroma is very similar to Rock Rose: notes of pine, lime, rowan berry, hawthorn and blueberry. It is somewhat earthier compared to Rock Rose Gin. Royal Navy officers always appreciated a good gin during long voyages. However, it was not to be diluted, as it was for the regular crew, but had to have a strength of 114 "proof", i. e. 57% vol. alcohol. Hence the name Navy Strength.
